1877 The Holy Bible (with Gustave Dore Illustrations) containing the Old and New Testaments, translated out of the original tongues, and with the former translations diligently compared and revised; with the Apocrypha, Concordance and Psalms. This copy with published in Philadelphia by A.J. Holman & Co. and it is The Holman’s Edition. It is illustrated with Gustave Dore original engravings… just stunning!! Highly collectible. There is a hand written inscription inside to Eliza Cumming by James Cumming in 1878. It also contains their family history under the Marriages, births and deaths… I also found a Pamphlet inside that was from a funeral home for the owner of this Bible… so the family had kept that all together. Very unique and special. It is a part of the history of this beautiful Bible! The book is bound in full leather with deep embossing and gold gilt detailing all over… it is in great shape for its age and size! Normally I find these falling apart… it also contains a working brass latch. The book overall is 13” tall, 10.5” wide and is 3.5” thick at the spine.
